Last Tuesday, for Election Day, I and some other SGA members planned an Election Night Extravaganza in the Commons! It was a great event that brought out SO many UMBC students to watch election returns together and watch history in the making! We had four-man inflatable jousting in the Gameroom, 200 free pizzas, free coffee and hot chocolate, guest speakers, and three projection TVs on Main Street that were broadcasting election results! Over 1,000 people came and witnessed history together! It was a very fun and engaging event.
I was so tired by the end of it though! I had gone home late Monday night after my SGA Senate meeting to vote the next morning. I woke up at 4 AM on Tuesday and got to my polling place at 4:50 AM! I was literally the first person there and the first person to vote in my precinct! No one else got in line with me until about a half hour after I had already been standing at the door!
Perhaps I was a little too excited to vote the first time..
All in all, Election Day was an incredible day for UMBC and it was great to get together with so many people to celebrate the end of this long campaign! Regardless of who you supported, we can all agree that this Election was a good one for America!
